We are extremely excited to share with you that we will be part of DILY ( Delhi, I love you).

For uninitiated, it is a long term movement that has variety of components. First and foremost is the screening of a film by name DILY . It will be followed by a series of 120 events that will be promoting the city – Delhi, its artists, its dreamers, its poets, and simply its people and their initiatives to make the city better. This movement will happen in  180 neighborhoods of Delhi and will be endorsed by the 20 Indians and foreign actors participating in the movie

DILY will basically be a platform to promote all the available positive energies in Delhi, to connect people and organizations that do not usually work together. It also aims to celebrate the city – Delhi with an international movie.

And, this is going to be real biggie with the participation of 150 artist, writers, and individuals and with dozens of NGOs and government bodies.

Fair and Ethical Fashion Show!!!!!

All of us here at Conserve India are busy preparing for the 2 upcoming trade fairs. It’s time to give a sneak peak of Fair and Ethical Fashion Show. It is the very first fair, ethical and sustainable fashion exhibition in Milan. Here, world class Italian and international experiences are targeted specifically to fashion companies, buyers and media. The venue [Spazio ex-Ansaldo spaces] is a real icing on the cake. After all, the venue is in the heart of the fashion district and it is being commonly used for top class fashion events.

Another reason to rejoice is that all exhibitors are FTOs either producing or marketing garments or fashion accessories. Also, all these companies comply with the ethical criteria for producing garments and fashion accessories.

Conserve India is really honoured to be a part of this legacy!

Don’t forget to catch us from 21 to 24 May 2015 at Fair and Ethical Fashion Show

Winners of Earth Day 2015 Giveaway – Congrats Winners!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are super excited to share the winners of Earth Day 2015 Giveaway

First Prize [Flowery HandBag ] Winner of Earth Day 2015 Giveaway – Dr. Ruma Bhargava

A dentist and also a public health professional who works amongst the masses and spreads smiles. She is also Radio Jockey, a voracious reader, a fervent writer and a keen orator. Her life sparkles from the gleam in the eyes of the people for whom she work.

Mother on whose breast spouts the grains that nurtures me, where the trees pump the air I inhale. Mother on whose forehead stands the mountains, which inspires my spirits to be indomitable.

Mother whose feet are washed by the swirling oceans; whose depth enthuses the humanity within to subsume the grief around.

Mother, where 8.7 million species coexist with me, motivating me to bond with the nature where my true essence resides!

Mother, whose expanse is beyond my vision, yet can be determined by the individuality of every creature it nurtures.

Mother who is the testimony to myself, gives her all, asking for nothing but my selfless being.

Second Prize [ Wristlet ] Winner of Earth Day 2015 Giveaway – Shruti Unnikrishnan

An 18 year old aspiring to be a fashion designer! Her interest includes drawing and painting. Also, she strongly believes people should learn to respect nature first.

The first thing which comes to my mind when I think of “Mother Earth” is family. In this context we refer to our planet as our mother, a provider, a nurturer. Just like a mother takes care of her children when they are younger and need her most, Earth takes care of us the same. Now that we have grown up, it’s our duty to take care of our ailing “Mother Earth”

Third Prize [ Cosmetic Pouch ] Winner of Earth Day 2015 Giveaway  – Ashish Dwivedi

An ex Associate at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP! He is a Computer Engineering graduate from Shri Govindram Institute of Technology & Science, Indore, and currently pursuing MBA in Finance and Marketing from XIM, Bhubaneswar. He is passionate about reading novels and penning down thoughts. He looks to bring about a change in the best way he can, as little waves of efforts can turn into a massive tide of change to protect our mother Earth

It surely is our turn to lead, especially when the natural resources depletion is happening at an alarming rate. Waste management is going to be the key to our resource needs. I would want to build and lead an electronic waste management which provides users an option to provide GPS location of a waste dumping area in their locality and the request is redirected to the nearest squad. The GPS location could be provided online through an XWaste App ( X- stands as a removal sign for the waste ). The waste would be then transferred to the nearest recycling hub( a chain of 2nd hand mini vans can be used to reach the destination quickly and collect the waste, using the minimum route algorithm)

Heartfelt Congratulations to all of you!!!!!

Thank you Ms. Sibley for your time and inspiring words!!!!!!

Lee-Alison Sibley, a multifaceted personality is here with us to share some inspiring words and thoughts. Ms. Sibley is indeed very generous and shared her valuable time.

Thank you Ms. Sibley for sparing few minutes amidst your busy schedule! We are really honored and humbled by your love.

Conserve India – Tell us about your background –

My background is that I’m from New York and grew up loving to travel, read and study.  I have been to 102 countries so far and I never want to stop my explorations of different lands and cultures.  Along the way I earned a Master of Music Degree and a Master of Education Degree and I have used these skills around the world to teach and perform.

Conserve India – With this background, what encouraged you into environmental issues and social issues?

While traveling I have observed the scourge of poverty — I have witnessed children in rags begging, living near the railroad tracks without homes, no schools to attend, no clean water to drink or toilet facilities.  I think environmental issues and social issues go hand in hand as the wealthy can afford to enjoy the benefits of clean air and drinking water — they only need to buy air filters and water filters for their homes if they are faced with pollution of both.  An education can lift a person up and provide a new way of living, but too many children do not have the advantage of school, nutritious food and adequate sanitation.  I was taught to stand up for the underprivileged — anyone without “a voice”– so I have worked to alleviate poverty and provide education, vocational training and a sanctuary for women and children in need.  Allying myself with NGOs in different countries, I will continue this as my life’s work.

Conserve India – With your global experience, which is “the one” environmental issue and “the one” social issue that you think as severe threat?

Without a doubt, climate change (global warming) is the biggest threat to mankind.  We are seeing the worst weather, the worst storms and more –encroaching deserts, loss of marine life (corals), melting glaciers and ice caps because of climate change due to man’s unwitting neglect while advancing industrially.

The most important social issue is education — education covers a broad area of subjects because education implies learning how to take care of ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally.

Conserve India – What do you think will be the solution for the same?

The solution for climate change is global awareness that this is real and for ALL countries to work together to stop the destruction of the environment.  It is not the time to point fingers and place blame — the damage is done.  Everyone finding alternative energy solutions, cleaning up our waters and recycling — each individual in the world can help — will go a long way.

As for education, governments large and small, rich and poor have to make this the top priority for all its citizens, but in a wise way.  Teachers need to be well trained and paid a living wage.  Students need to be empowered to learn by their families.  It really does take a village to raise a child!

Conserve India – Which role of yours is quite close to your heart — author, vocal artist, teacher, actor or social activist?

Yes, I am all these roles and they all mean a lot to me, but my most important role is not on the list — I am a mother!  I have two children who are my biological children and many more who are young people along the way I’ve mentored and gotten very emotionally attached to who call me “mom” and that means the world to me!

Conserve India – Guess Earth Day celebrations are keeping you busy.  How was this experience of coordinating this event?

First off, I made a friend — Anita Ahuja — which is wonderful for me personally.  There have been many meetings and the involvement of many different people so being organized is essential.  In the end, it is a labor of love — to showcase the wonderful creations of Conserve India while showing people how we can eliminate a lot of waste in our lives and eliminate it by recycling, composting and being responsible citizens.

Conserve India – Is there anything else you would like to share about Earth Day Celebration at American Embassy?

Yes — this is going to be a real fun event for everyone who attends the special ‘waste not want not’ lunch and Conserve India fashion show.  We also have 18 vendors selling products that are good for the environment, i.e. composting materials, organic produce, recycled clothing.  Truly, there is something for everyone and I hope it is a huge success!

Food Ladder India is growing in leaps and bounds!!!!!!!!

We are super excited to share this news with you.

Food Ladder India

We are happy to report that all the hard work is paying off! Food Ladder India is going from strength to strength.

This year alone we have made huge progress. Last week we hired Abhilash Gupta, our ‘Food Ladder India Manager’ who is responsible for the operations of our initial roof-top greenhouse system in Delhi and now a secondary hydroponic farm that we have initiated in the same slum. When the time is right, Abhilash will be responsible for rolling out our solutions all throughout India and the world.

Working with our wonderful in-country Partners, Conserve India, we are planning the second Food Ladder social enterprise which will adjoin the small make-shift school in the Bahadurgarh slum of west-Delhi. We specifically chose this location to enable mothers to safely deliver their children to the school for learning and be employed at the same location, simultaneously. It is a brilliant marriage of solutions for nutrition, empowerment and education in women and children.

This year we have also made some important changes. As Food Ladder grows, we are moving all manufacturing and operations to our head-office in Delhi for a more convenient and cost-effective distribution to a broader range of locations throughout Asia.
